Mission Hot Mama!

Today is a big day, it’s the start of Mission Hot Mama! Time to get back into pre-baby shape!

My super personal trainer Angie Lewis from Full Circle Fitness and Wellness, has a 3 month Hot Mama fat loss program that we’ll be doing together (even Siena can come join in). It includes strength, cardio, and a nutrition plan that’s designed especially for nursing mothers. I can’t wait to share my progress and her tips with all of you.

I’d happily concluded from my research (reading People magazine, watching Entertainment tonight etc) that it should take me about 2 days to look like I never popped a watermelon out of a grape (thanks Bethenny Frankel and Giselle Bündchen). Angie and I found a small problem with that research today when I jumped on the scale…. 6 weeks post baby and I still have 15 pounds to lose to get back to my normal weight.

As a new mother I’d loved to have watched someone go through their weight loss so I’d know what to expect, so I’ve decided to blog what I’m doing. It also helps keep me honest. The hardest part about this is the start. Yes putting up that dang before picture. You see in the picture above I have the side angle going on with hip out and one arm so perfectly on the waist (fool proof way to look like you’re 15 pounds slimmer). In my “real” before shot you see it all, but if I’m commiting to set realistic expectations for new mothers I have to put my before picture out there for you to see.. but if I keep writing it’ll push it so far down the page you may not see it… OK here goes… inserting before picture now….

Yes that’s me, front on, no side turn… 15 pounds heavier than you’re used to seeing me on TV, with 30% body fat (used to be 22%). Nothing like posting a before picture of yourself to get motivated to kick booty at mission Hot Mama.

As my trainer says, this isn’t about losing weight it’s about being healthy, losing the fat, and building back the muscle I lost from sitting on the couch for 9 months. I’m not trying to be a size 0, my healthy size is 6-8 so that’s where I want to be.

To check out my progress and what I’ve been doing, I’ll create a page on this site that will track it all.

I can’t wait to hear what you think of this idea to blog about getting into shape, also let me know if you have any questions for my trainer.

xoxo

So proud of you! That’s great that you’re jumping back into it so quickly! You’re so inspirational! I’ve been slacking myself, and my baby is about to turn one at the end of July. It’s so much harder and confusing when you’re still nursing, because everyone says that you’re not supposed to eat this or do too much when you’re nursing. I’ve nursed this whole 11 months, and he’s over 26 lbs now! Wore me out! LOL! I’m going to sign up at Columbia Athletic Club actually tomorrow, so it would be fun to blog about this on my site too! I can’t wait to hear what you learn! Um, is sleep important to this plan? (!)

KP – I’m curious too, how the exercise will go with the small sleep schedule. Wonder if I can sleep walk as part of the training? lol
